CDL Training Program
Orange County Transit, LLC. offers a free CDL Training program for applicants that are interested in obtaining a Commercial Driver License to become a School Bus Driver. The program prepares you to obtain your CDL permit. Once you have acquired your CDL permit, Orange County Transit, LLC. will train you in our vehicles to pass your road test to obtain your Commercial license to become our future School Bus Driver for Orange County Transit, LLC. Our training program is designed for you, the applicant to obtain your Class B or C Commercial Drivers License with the Passenger, School Bus endorsements.
CDL Program Outline
1. Review for CDL permit and study materials provided by Orange County Transit, LLC. (NY Commercial Driver’s Manual, Online practice test, CDL prep app) Once Ready: NY DMV scheduling link, CDL Permit Exam.
2. Schedule and take CDL Permit written tests for (General Knowledge, Passengers and School Bus) at NY DMV office.
3. Once CDL Permit is obtained, the applicant may qualify to join our driver training program to be hired to become a School Bus Driver
4. Training is approximately 40 hours of “Behind the Wheel Training” with our instructors to prepare for the NY DMV CDL road test.
5. Orange County Transit, LLC. will schedule DMV road test escorted with an instructor and school bus vehicle.
6. CDL Licensed or Permitted BPS, CPS Drivers will need to complete a background check, Pre-service class and pass a Physical/Drug test.
